DANCE.
Dancing is known to be one of the oldest forms of art. It's believed that probably even back in prehistoric times men and women were dancing to some kind of beat. Dance has evolved over time and just keeps getting more popular as time changes. From ballet leaps to simple swaying at your own prom, dancing is essential to everyday life. There are so many types of dancing; such as it being a popular craze or a soaring ballet leap across a stage. It can be folk dances that have been handed down from many generations or modern dancing. Either way dancing has become as important as breathing for many people; such as myself. No one really understands how important dancing actually is or how essential it could be to a certain culture. When I visited The Museum Of Natural History during last weekend, I read about African American culture and how the boys had to dance for their own beliefs. Two kinds of dances evolves as cultures developed; social dances on occasions that celebrated births or religious dances to sometimes ask the Gods to stop the rain or cure a sickness. The Waltz is considered one of the oldest kinds of dancing there is. It stood for freedom of expression and freedom of movement. As the 20th century evolved different dances started happening such as the twist, boogie, or the jitterbug. In every part of the world dancing has evolved with it and created it's own history. Dancing comes into my own life as normal as eating or sleeping. It's my passion and knowing dance is one of the greatest ideas of art amazes me more. It has become essential all around the world, with different cultures and different moves. No two people dance exactly the same and that's what makes dancing so unique; so amazing.

Americans these days .
In todays society Americans are always either so nosy, so worried, or complaining for no reason. We're practically spoiled in todays world but mostly in America. You know the saying; "You don't know what you have till it's gone"? Yeah, that should apply to all people living in America. I don't feel that people appreciate things as they should anymore; but that's usually targeted to the American population. WHY? because all we do is complain about how we want more of what we don't really need. We complain when we shouldn't speak and don't speak up loud enough when we need to be heard. We work backwards sometimes. We're also considered the most nosiest people around the world; no wonder why though. Whether it's a car accident on the corner or an arrest for DUI some kind of crowd is around it. We complain and also go crazy for things that aren't really necessary. Such as the "Swine flu" epidemic? The flu was not even that serious doctors say yet the world was practically throwing their children into stretchers if they god forbid coughed. The point of my blog is that people don;t really appreciate what we really have. We should all buy plane tickets for each other and take trips to starving or third world countries. The world needs a wake up call and to realize what they have in front of them and not what they believe they "need" .

Poem "Sista To Sista"
Last night I sat up in my room to read The Def Jam Poetry and as I was reading it, there were a couple of poems that stood out to me. I thought all the poems overall were really well written but the one I related to and enjoyed reading, was "Sista to Sista" by Georgia Me. I thought this poem spoke about things that always happen; yet they spoke about it another way in this poem. Georgia Me wrote about what the reason is for girls being half naked when they go out just to get guys attention? She explains that she doesn't know what girls are thinking when they walk out of their house looking like they do. Do they expect to be respected; or do they know what really is on guys minds? I can relate to Georgia Me, because I don't understand it either when girls dress the way they do sometimes. There obvious reason is that it makes them look "sexy" but it gives the opposite message to guys minds. Haven't girls ever heard of the line "More is less"? Sometimes when girls cover up, it's more appreciated by guys, or even people in general. In the poem she says "niggaz can see this by her demeanor he shows her some interest so she's eager, he's not concerned about how to please her". It's the truth and I agree because I believe guys only want you for the wrong reasons when girls are dressed like that and who wants attention when it's not for the right reasons? Honestly, I rather have no eyes on me in a room, then a million eyes staring all for the wrong reasons. Girls nowadays should respect themselves more and watch how they appeal to guys because the next thing you know they're always complaining how guys don't treat them right. Well, maybe it's how they represent themselves ?

Miss USA Controversy
During the past few weeks, Miss USA was about to be decided and given to Carrie Prejean. It was abruptly stopped when Perez Hilton; a gossip columnist asked her a question on gay marriage. This sparked a lot of controversy and in response to this, she lost the chance to be Miss USA. On a interview on the TODAY show she was quoted as saying "I did not want to offend anybody, but I think with that question specifically, it's not about me being politically correct, for me it's about being biblically correct". On the show, when they asked her the Gay marriage question about how more states show allow same sex marriages she was stated saying she was all for it except the fact that it should be a man and woman because that is how she was raised. To be honest; I don't believe she should be ridiculed over this and her answer to the question. It was her own belief and just like everyone has one it shouldn't have been an issue. She was only criticized for this because she was going to be crowned "Miss USA" and people got offended because it was said. People are allowed to say whatever they want; however they want unless they are putting someone in danger or misleading people with false information. I don't think this should of stirred up so much controversy like it did. If that's how she was raised, let it be. If this was true, then don't you think everyone should each be criticized for what they believe in individually? This is not something that she should have gotten her crown taking away from. Other controversy such as modeling "half nude" before placing in the Miss USA pageant is more of a reason for her to lose her place because these girls should be role models for others; and not something parents cover little girls eyes about. The world makes a big thing of the smaller things than actually making a bigger deal with the things that should be spoken about.

Growing Up to fast?
I was reading an article from the Wall Street Journal that I found interesting on the computer. It spoke about how kids today are growing up way too fast. If you look around in today's society you see kids 12 or even 14 years old acting way beyond their years. In the article I read that "Tweens" acting older than they really are , are steadily increasing. "The 12 and 14 year olds of yesterday are the 10-12's of today" says Bruce Friend and is he not right? Statistically, teen crime rates and the amount of girls that admitted to having sex rose 19% from 11%. The way kids act nowadays are getting worse and as they should be playing and living life as a kid, they live the life of a 18 year old person with more mature interests. Personally, I don't know what drives kid's to act older than they really are; but maybe it is just the surroundings and media kids are sucked into to these days. Who knows? Acting older could be a positive thing but on a much more complex level. I don't think there is anything positive on how kids act these days. Along with alcohol and drug use, these are the troubling trends "tweens" are faced with these days. The media shows more of a example of these behaviors than anything around us. Models that are supposed to be looked up too for girls are now looked down on in society because of health problems and eating disorders they shove into young girls faces. Song writers and rap artists are supposed to be looked at as role models for kids mostly guys who feel they can't express themselves any other way other than turning a song. Now, songs are the worst to listen to while kid's think it's cool so they sing along to it because the rest of the world does. Acting older than you are , I think makes you more immature than you start with. I think kids should act exactly how old they are and live their lives to the fullest; with each step and not skipping any.

Fighting
Over the weekend I watched one of the most talked about movies to come out last week called "Fighting". This movie stars Channing Tatum and shows how a young kid from the street does anything to make a little money and a living. When he gets into a fight in the streets people recognize his hidden talent and end up making a deal with him. During the beginning of the movie he only agreed to fight just to make money for himself; but as the movie goes on viewers realize he has more than love for money but a passion for fighting. He competes in many street battles and not surprisingly wins at most of them. Throughout the movie it was very typical and predictable. I thought the movie could have been more exciting with twists but it was the opposite of exciting. It was dragged out and poorly written. It almost reminded me of remakes from great fighting movies such as The Karate Kid Or Rocky; only no part of this movie was anything close to being as good. Although this movie hit number 1 in the box offices this weekend, I feel it wasn't worth my time. The again, everyone is different so if people are interested in how life is like growing up in the streets and most of all fighting, then they would most likely enjoy this movie. Once was enough to watch this movie and I'm glad it's over.

Teen Alcohol Abuse
In today's society, teens that drink is as common and "normal" as eating or breathing. Nowadays kids teens don't realize what they out into their body and how it's harming them. Studies show there have been many health risks for drinking. Long term risks can include certain cancers, liver damage, and literal shrinking of the brain. Too much of anything is no good especially when it can lead to bigger problems in your lifetime. Professionals today are worried about the increasing amount of teens putting their lives in danger with alcohol abuse. I believe many people know about these affects but just don't care. Many teens drink for various reasons but a lot of times it's for the same reason for many actions of teens; fitting in with their friends or to go along with the crowd in order to be accepted by society. Not only are teens putting their lives in danger they could possibly be putting others too. Drinking and driving was surveyed to be the leading cause of death among teens ages 15-20. Deaths are twice more likely to happen for alcohol involved drivers 21 and older. Alcohol can also interact with conditions such as depression and stress that lead to suicide. I agree that drinking underage can be a bad choice because usually teens get to carried away and they do more than they should. Teens make more bad choices than adults so I think drinking can wait and people shouldn't out their life on the line for a "good night" or "party". There are other ways of having a good time and doing it responsibly. I think things such as drinking should wait until you and your body is more ready too.

Rap music ?
In today's society the most common genre of music listened to for teens is none other than rap music. You hear it everyone blasting in car radios, parties, or even at home. Today, rap music is the start of fights for parents, but the words spoken among teenagers. Rap music has changed over and personally I don't listen to it as often as I used to; and it's probably because things have changed and the things people rap about now a days have changed. There is no such thing as "clean rap" or "fun rap" anymore because kids today consider it as "lame" or "boring". It's horrible how things have changed and what kids turn to now to get away from the world. In rap songs now, there's nothing but sexist comments against woman; violence, and racial slurs. The sad part of this all, is that we all buy or download these songs. How can anyone especially a young girl download a song and sing to it in a car when they literally talk about nasty and vile things? Of course I'd be hippo critical if I said i never downloaded these kind if songs but I can honestly say I don't listen to it as much. Since when did degrading woman and killing people become a tune to sing along to? If this is true, then the world needs to step back and take a good look at what's happening. Where did the rap songs go where they spoke about true things such as life, and struggles real people go through? This topic never comes across to rappers anymore but yet they keep selling. I think teens don;t sit down and listen to lyrics and actually understand what they mean; although they listen to it because they're friends do. Parents take these songs to the next level by blaming rap songs for society problems such as teen crimes & murders. They believe lyrics from these so called "rap artists" are the ones to blame for their child's behavior but are they really? I believe rap songs take some part in it but for the most the problem lays in the hands of the parent. Parents should pay more attention to what they're kids listen to and kids should realize what they're listening to is NOT cool and that they should find other things to talk about and listen to.

Abstinence Pledges?
Where ever people go today your most likely to hear about the topic of "sex". Nowadays its just a common conversation people bring up among themselves; but can you blame them? The idea of teen sex and abstinence is everywhere. Whether it's in music or movies teens seemed to be faced with this idea more and more each day. Some say that teenagers who pledge to remain virgins until they are married are most likely to have pre marital sex before marriage then the kids who don't pledge at all. I don't agree with this at all only because if kids are going to want to have pre marital sex; abstinence or not they're going to do it regardless. I don't believe a ring is going to change the mind if a kid of even increase reasons to have sex. Today's society is extremely messed up due to the fact that the government really spent more than 1.5 billion dollars on abstinence programs. Honestly i feel that is ridiculous and that money should go to things more worldly issues than teens putting a ring on their finger to make sure they don't have sex till they're married. These programs generally do not work probably because they are absolutely absurd. What is even more crazy is that know musicians are promoting this fake idea such as the pop heartthrob group The Jonas Brothers. Recently the members have told the public that they wear their rings as abstinence of sex before they are married. This just stirs of more controversy the world really does not need. WAKE UP world, we have bigger problems than these silver diamond rings and these programs. These programs are just religion being out on to the public in lieu of programs that actually do work.

Frida Kahlo
Frida Kahlo was a woman who went through many hardships in her life. She endured a life of a lot of pain caused by a bus accident she was in during her youth. Her strive, determination as well as the love of her life helps her overcome this and do what she was always born to do; become a painter. She wanted the world to know her work and have her recognized as a amazing woman painter. During the movie she meets the "love of her life" Rivera and unfortunately falls head over heels for him. Sadly, Rivera is not the right man for her because he constantly cheats. She falls too deep even knowing in the back of head he will never be faithful to her. He soon almost takes away time from her painting so throughout the movie she ends up leaving him and pursuing her dream and what she cares about the most. Throughout this movie Frida is perceived as a strong, independent woman that does what's right by her towards the ending. Although, Frida knows he is not a good man she meets herself up for hurt throughout her life and runs back to a man she thinks she can not live without. This movie was not only based on her paintings but her strength even when everything falls and how even after so many breakups , she still comes back to her first true love.

Are computers a little much?
Over time the world and people start changing. This would mean that so does technology. Each year technology takes on the process of almost controlling our lives. They're basically one step away from feeding us and talking for us. By this day and age computers and technology control our lives and it isn't good. People don't really realize how it's a problem but i believe it is. By technology controlling our every move people tend to get lazier and lazier which makes everything worse. Teens and kids are hardly playing outside anymore because they're either watching t.v or more common, on the computer. This usually doesn't sound like a problem because people think since kids aren't outside getting into trouble at least their home where it's safe. This is true, but it leads to bigger problems such as obesity. This is also a growing epidemic because kids do not get the right amount of exercise they need a day. A survey in the NY times stated that over 2.231 people did a survey and that they spend an average of 10 hours a week on a computer. While the amount of time for computers went higher, television seemed to go down over the years. It said about 35% of people said they stopped watching t.v because of their computer habits. This doesn't only affect your health but also your way of living. People stop picking up books, reading magazines and such because they are so in tuned to computers. It's an addiction and I think it's starting to get a little out of hand. By the year 2015 people won't need to do anything with their lives because they'll have technology to depend on. People don't get anything don't get anything done because the internet provides them with everything and it's not good. I think people should start lessening their time in front of a computer screen and get active before it's to late.

The Metamorphosis
The book The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka is a very different yet interesting book. The author writes about a very awkward topic; not something you usually sit down and read. The story talks about a guy named Gregor who claims he has turned into a bug. Gregor lived a sad life only because he wasn't treated right and all his parents cared about was the money he brought home to them at the end of the day. When he turned into a "bug" they treated him poorly. His reaction was probably different than most of ours because he did not show no emotion; therefore u thought he didn't care. I guess in a way it was a relief for Gregor because a lot of pressure was taken off of him. Everything seemed to go wrong after that. Whatever love his family had for Gregor was gone and it turned into disgust. His dad would hit him and wouldn't even try to speak to him anymore because they couldn't understand him. His mother wouldn't even go into the room he was in because she was disgusted to look at him; so disgusted that Gregor stayed in a room with a sheet over him for his mother's sake. His sister would bring him food every now and then but they would be leftovers or scraps; things that he wouldn't ever touch, bug or no bug. They treated him terrible as they kept him in a room while no one went in their. Days would pass & they would let him collect dusk and starve. The only person that paid any mind to him was his sister but by the time she was ready to he had already died. This book would definitely break your heart and although the plot seemed weird it reached more ideas than someone turning into a "bug". The author was very creative and different with writing this book but it was very interesting and i would recommend anyone to pick it up & read it.

Friday The 13th. Hot Or not?
During this weekend, I spent some of my hours going to the movie theater. To be completely honest I hate scary movies but I like the thrill of being scared and having chills up your spine. I went to go see another new version of the slasher thriller Friday The 13th directed by Marcus Nispel. If you seen the others of this movie you probably wouldn't be all that surprised about the plot. The film takes place in a wooded area called Camp Crystal Lake. As always, one person out of their friends always believes in the dreaded events that usually has happened hundreds of years back. As always, no one believes him and makes the mistake of smoking marijuana and having sex on the property of Camp Crystal Lake. This happens in the beginning of the movie with about 5 kids and instead of asking "how the hell do we get out of here", they ask where each of their friends are going, You think you have the story figured out and you wonder how only five kids are going to be in a 120 minute movie when all of them supposedly die. Well, after this happens the next scene shoots to another group of kids who spend their vacation in Crystal lake as well and meet this boy along the way who is looking for his sister. He tells them she's missing since she went camping with her friends and it seems none of the kids are interested except one of the girls. As in all horror movies the plot can be guessed right away when Freddy chases them all down in loss of his mother being beheaded years ago. I won't give away the ending but the whole movie was a complete bore. Personally, I hated the movie and not so much because it had a lot of slaughter and chilling images but because the plot was so predictable as in the rest of the past movies. It was ridiculous and although the movie did do it's part with being a horror, it didn't make it as being a "good" movie. The ending was "forced" and they elaborated more on sexual scenes than actual killings. I wouldn't recommend this movie at all.

Solid remake of Quarantine
Quarantine is a remake of the 2007 Spanish horror film Rec. This movie has been receiving amazing reviews from horror fans including myself. It leaves you on the edge of your seat, terrifying and action packed. When people hear about a remake happening so soon they suddenly think that it's probably going to turn out bad and sort-of ridiculous. However, the cast and trailer were both very good and it happened to be better than other remakes including one missed call, and The shutter. The story basically talks about a young girl who is filming with her cameraman in Los Angeles when they receive a call from a apartment. They soon go to check it out and then make a frightful discovery regarding one of the residents and find themselves Quarantined by the government in the apartment building. If you had seen the first movie you would realize it is the exact same plot just with new scenes in between. Those too were also good. The action was intense and strong. Although this movie had many positive aspects of it and the casting was good, there were also some flaws to this movie. The movie sort-of dragged out in some parts and some characters were really pointless to be in it. If you had seen the first one you would probably be extremely disappointed with the directors of the film ; only because the plot and many ideas were the same as the first movie. Therefore the director of the first movie should be given most of the credit to Quarantine. They had also lied to the audience and said that they had changed the ending of this movie when clearly it turned out to be basically the same. So, lying to the people, and remaking a film less than a year? Not such a god start with directing. on a whole though, i thought this movie was really good and it leaves you completely freaked out in so many parts. I do advise anyone to watch this movie , so don't be ignorant over a movie with subtitles because it really was an amazing film

GiiRLL CRAZY MUCH?
You ever heard of the line "You don't know what you have till it's gone"? It seems like every one's blind to who actually likes them, Everyone meaning guys. We all know of course girls mess up almost as much as guys, but when it comes to things such as "committed relationships", they soon forget what the word "committed" means. I think most girls fall for the wrong person some point in their life but mostly because they fall to quickly. As soon as their date looks like Brad Pitt , many girls think this might be the "one" for the rest of their lives. Yeah, most of the time teenager relationships are no fairy tale endings. I don't know about you but I'm always asking myself why can't guys grow up to be a little more mature, then to be girl crazy and want more than they already have? It's like their only satisfied with more and more girls. I'm not saying all guys are but most girls get heartbroken over these reasons and it's honestly pathetic. I mean, are there any decent guys for girls to look forward to? Unless the shoe is on the other foot, that's when guys start to complain and they soon to ask why are they always the target? I think the reason to immature guy minds is because they're afraid to get hurt first and it might affect their "tough guy" image ; but they should only know its not impressing anyone but maybe the other jerks that are exactly like them. All I'm saying is that girls should watch who they fall for and give it time before their head over heels with their so called prince charming ; because you never know what he might turn out to be.
