DANCE.
Dancing is known to be one of the oldest forms of art. It's believed that probably even back in prehistoric times men and women were dancing to some kind of beat. Dance has evolved over time and just keeps getting more popular as time changes. From ballet leaps to simple swaying at your own prom, dancing is essential to everyday life. There are so many types of dancing; such as it being a popular craze or a soaring ballet leap across a stage. It can be folk dances that have been handed down from many generations or modern dancing. Either way dancing has become as important as breathing for many people; such as myself. No one really understands how important dancing actually is or how essential it could be to a certain culture. When I visited The Museum Of Natural History during last weekend, I read about African American culture and how the boys had to dance for their own beliefs. Two kinds of dances evolves as cultures developed; social dances on occasions that celebrated births or religious dances to sometimes ask the Gods to stop the rain or cure a sickness. The Waltz is considered one of the oldest kinds of dancing there is. It stood for freedom of expression and freedom of movement. As the 20th century evolved different dances started happening such as the twist, boogie, or the jitterbug. In every part of the world dancing has evolved with it and created it's own history. Dancing comes into my own life as normal as eating or sleeping. It's my passion and knowing dance is one of the greatest ideas of art amazes me more. It has become essential all around the world, with different cultures and different moves. No two people dance exactly the same and that's what makes dancing so unique; so amazing.

Americans these days .
In todays society Americans are always either so nosy, so worried, or complaining for no reason. We're practically spoiled in todays world but mostly in America. You know the saying; "You don't know what you have till it's gone"? Yeah, that should apply to all people living in America. I don't feel that people appreciate things as they should anymore; but that's usually targeted to the American population. WHY? because all we do is complain about how we want more of what we don't really need. We complain when we shouldn't speak and don't speak up loud enough when we need to be heard. We work backwards sometimes. We're also considered the most nosiest people around the world; no wonder why though. Whether it's a car accident on the corner or an arrest for DUI some kind of crowd is around it. We complain and also go crazy for things that aren't really necessary. Such as the "Swine flu" epidemic? The flu was not even that serious doctors say yet the world was practically throwing their children into stretchers if they god forbid coughed. The point of my blog is that people don;t really appreciate what we really have. We should all buy plane tickets for each other and take trips to starving or third world countries. The world needs a wake up call and to realize what they have in front of them and not what they believe they "need" .

Poem "Sista To Sista"
Last night I sat up in my room to read The Def Jam Poetry and as I was reading it, there were a couple of poems that stood out to me. I thought all the poems overall were really well written but the one I related to and enjoyed reading, was "Sista to Sista" by Georgia Me. I thought this poem spoke about things that always happen; yet they spoke about it another way in this poem. Georgia Me wrote about what the reason is for girls being half naked when they go out just to get guys attention? She explains that she doesn't know what girls are thinking when they walk out of their house looking like they do. Do they expect to be respected; or do they know what really is on guys minds? I can relate to Georgia Me, because I don't understand it either when girls dress the way they do sometimes. There obvious reason is that it makes them look "sexy" but it gives the opposite message to guys minds. Haven't girls ever heard of the line "More is less"? Sometimes when girls cover up, it's more appreciated by guys, or even people in general. In the poem she says "niggaz can see this by her demeanor he shows her some interest so she's eager, he's not concerned about how to please her". It's the truth and I agree because I believe guys only want you for the wrong reasons when girls are dressed like that and who wants attention when it's not for the right reasons? Honestly, I rather have no eyes on me in a room, then a million eyes staring all for the wrong reasons. Girls nowadays should respect themselves more and watch how they appeal to guys because the next thing you know they're always complaining how guys don't treat them right. Well, maybe it's how they represent themselves ?

Miss USA Controversy
During the past few weeks, Miss USA was about to be decided and given to Carrie Prejean. It was abruptly stopped when Perez Hilton; a gossip columnist asked her a question on gay marriage. This sparked a lot of controversy and in response to this, she lost the chance to be Miss USA. On a interview on the TODAY show she was quoted as saying "I did not want to offend anybody, but I think with that question specifically, it's not about me being politically correct, for me it's about being biblically correct". On the show, when they asked her the Gay marriage question about how more states show allow same sex marriages she was stated saying she was all for it except the fact that it should be a man and woman because that is how she was raised. To be honest; I don't believe she should be ridiculed over this and her answer to the question. It was her own belief and just like everyone has one it shouldn't have been an issue. She was only criticized for this because she was going to be crowned "Miss USA" and people got offended because it was said. People are allowed to say whatever they want; however they want unless they are putting someone in danger or misleading people with false information. I don't think this should of stirred up so much controversy like it did. If that's how she was raised, let it be. If this was true, then don't you think everyone should each be criticized for what they believe in individually? This is not something that she should have gotten her crown taking away from. Other controversy such as modeling "half nude" before placing in the Miss USA pageant is more of a reason for her to lose her place because these girls should be role models for others; and not something parents cover little girls eyes about. The world makes a big thing of the smaller things than actually making a bigger deal with the things that should be spoken about.

Growing Up to fast?
I was reading an article from the Wall Street Journal that I found interesting on the computer. It spoke about how kids today are growing up way too fast. If you look around in today's society you see kids 12 or even 14 years old acting way beyond their years. In the article I read that "Tweens" acting older than they really are , are steadily increasing. "The 12 and 14 year olds of yesterday are the 10-12's of today" says Bruce Friend and is he not right? Statistically, teen crime rates and the amount of girls that admitted to having sex rose 19% from 11%. The way kids act nowadays are getting worse and as they should be playing and living life as a kid, they live the life of a 18 year old person with more mature interests. Personally, I don't know what drives kid's to act older than they really are; but maybe it is just the surroundings and media kids are sucked into to these days. Who knows? Acting older could be a positive thing but on a much more complex level. I don't think there is anything positive on how kids act these days. Along with alcohol and drug use, these are the troubling trends "tweens" are faced with these days. The media shows more of a example of these behaviors than anything around us. Models that are supposed to be looked up too for girls are now looked down on in society because of health problems and eating disorders they shove into young girls faces. Song writers and rap artists are supposed to be looked at as role models for kids mostly guys who feel they can't express themselves any other way other than turning a song. Now, songs are the worst to listen to while kid's think it's cool so they sing along to it because the rest of the world does. Acting older than you are , I think makes you more immature than you start with. I think kids should act exactly how old they are and live their lives to the fullest; with each step and not skipping any.

Fighting
Over the weekend I watched one of the most talked about movies to come out last week called "Fighting". This movie stars Channing Tatum and shows how a young kid from the street does anything to make a little money and a living. When he gets into a fight in the streets people recognize his hidden talent and end up making a deal with him. During the beginning of the movie he only agreed to fight just to make money for himself; but as the movie goes on viewers realize he has more than love for money but a passion for fighting. He competes in many street battles and not surprisingly wins at most of them. Throughout the movie it was very typical and predictable. I thought the movie could have been more exciting with twists but it was the opposite of exciting. It was dragged out and poorly written. It almost reminded me of remakes from great fighting movies such as The Karate Kid Or Rocky; only no part of this movie was anything close to being as good. Although this movie hit number 1 in the box offices this weekend, I feel it wasn't worth my time. The again, everyone is different so if people are interested in how life is like growing up in the streets and most of all fighting, then they would most likely enjoy this movie. Once was enough to watch this movie and I'm glad it's over.

Teen Alcohol Abuse
In today's society, teens that drink is as common and "normal" as eating or breathing. Nowadays kids teens don't realize what they out into their body and how it's harming them. Studies show there have been many health risks for drinking. Long term risks can include certain cancers, liver damage, and literal shrinking of the brain. Too much of anything is no good especially when it can lead to bigger problems in your lifetime. Professionals today are worried about the increasing amount of teens putting their lives in danger with alcohol abuse. I believe many people know about these affects but just don't care. Many teens drink for various reasons but a lot of times it's for the same reason for many actions of teens; fitting in with their friends or to go along with the crowd in order to be accepted by society. Not only are teens putting their lives in danger they could possibly be putting others too. Drinking and driving was surveyed to be the leading cause of death among teens ages 15-20. Deaths are twice more likely to happen for alcohol involved drivers 21 and older. Alcohol can also interact with conditions such as depression and stress that lead to suicide. I agree that drinking underage can be a bad choice because usually teens get to carried away and they do more than they should. Teens make more bad choices than adults so I think drinking can wait and people shouldn't out their life on the line for a "good night" or "party". There are other ways of having a good time and doing it responsibly. I think things such as drinking should wait until you and your body is more ready too.
